It runs gracefully on any and all surfaces, breathes nicely, is cushioned and protective enough for road and trail alike, and provides performance aplenty, as has long been the case with the Trabuco lineage. To better distinguish the model from the GT 2000, ASICS used the same DuoMax medial post but changed the outsole to a more aggressive, yet flex-promoting tread pattern with a combination of sticky rubber and more durable compounds, added a ¾-length Nylex plate for torsional support and bone bruise protection, as well as included GEL cushioning in the heel and forefoot and a full-length proprietary EVA midsole. The WP version features a seam-sealed Gore-Tex upper. The WR model we tested was very comfortable, especially in the gusseted tongue and collar, which were snug enough to shield out detritus without irritation. The lace garage was also a nice finishing detail.
